Mountain Goat

If you want a goat, Chris will get you one…but get your ass in shape… Scott Teigen 2013

This is a fabulous goat area with very little hunting pressure over the years.  The average goat harvested is 9 3/4, with no more than five goat hunters per season. Many of these goats have lived out their lives, some never setting eyes upon man.  One such area was successfully hunted in 2019.  Another secluded area can be accessed by floatplane, which was reopened, after a 25 year closer, in 2016.  If flying is not in your budget, there are several other options, a boat access only place; which is an excellent hunt to combine with a trophy moose or the main valley where an ATV is used, driving a portion of the way up the deactivated logging roads.  During your goat hunt you may be on top of the world hunting out of a mountain tent, out of the main camp, or cabins on Ghost Lake.  The hunt ranges in altitudes of 5000′ to 7000′ hiking along the ridges, sometimes glassing for hours. To hunt mountain goat, you do not have to be an athlete, however, you should be in good mental and physical condition and never wear new boots.  Average shoots are around 300 yards, but be able to shoot up to 500 yards.
