Canadian Moose

The Cariboo Mountains offer an exceptionally diverse moose habitat, with countless lakes, alpine meadows, old-growth forests, clear cuts old and new and wetlands providing ideal conditions throughout the region. Moose are found across these varied landscapes, offering hunters excellent opportunities during the rut the last ten days of September into the first two weeks of October. In some years, a late October hunt is also available and has proven to be equally productive.  This hunt offers opportunities at bulls averaging 45 inches.

Our hunting methods are tailored to conditions and terrain and may include hunting from tower blinds over mineral licks, calling in high alpine meadows and clearcuts, glassing from strategic vantage points, and hunting along the Upper Matthew River and Ghost Lake. To ensure a quality experience, hunters are carefully positioned in separate locations, with no more than one or two people hunting a given area at the same time. Depending on the hunt plan and conditions, travel and access may involve walking, sitting, boating, and 4×4 use. Traditional cow and bull calling is also an important part of the hunt, helping draw rutting bulls into range

Cameron Ridge Bungalows

This is our main camp, featuring comfortable cabins, a full kitchen, a shower house, and generator power for a comfortable stay in the wilderness. Hunting opportunities in this area are excellent, with methods including tower blinds overlooking meadows and mineral licks, glassing the many clearcuts from strategic vantage points, and checking the numerous small meadows that regularly attract game. Hunting is conducted by 4×4, walking, and sitting, allowing for a flexible and effective approach based on conditions and hunter preference.

Ghost Lake

A 15-foot Jon boat powered by a 25 hp Tohatsu jet is used to access and hunt the upper Matthew River, a truly special area offering excellent river-based moose hunting opportunities. Comfortable cabins at Ghost Lake provide a unique wilderness experience and are accessible only by boat. If your moose hunt wraps up early, the adventure doesn’t end there—Ghost Lake offers outstanding fishing, with plentiful rainbow trout that are as enjoyable to catch as they are to eat.

Tasse Lake

This is our southernmost location and one of two new areas now available to hunt. The area offers excellent moose habitat, with a productive mineral lick, nearby meadows, and heavy timber surrounding the lake. Because of its lower elevation, this location hunts well during the rut and can also be productive in late October.  Camp accommodations include a comfortable travel trailer set on the shores of Tasse Lake or lodging out of Likely with convenient access to the hunting area.  With moose often active close to camp, hunters may have the opportunity to start the day with action before breakfast.
